Celebrate Christmas at St. Paul’s! We have 2 services on Christmas Eve and one service on Christmas day. Join us in our renovated sanctuary and enjoy the very first service performed on our newly-installed Schantz organ.

We’re almost there.
One, More. Day.

This magnificent instrument does great honor to the craftsmen and artisans who have built it—the terrific folks at the Schantz Organ Company. Love and care are evident in every detail. People come into the church and, even seeing the unfinished organ, are speechless. This is artistry at its best. One hundred years from now, this organ will still stand as a marvelous testament to the skill and artistry of its makers.

Yes, they work on Saturday!

On Day 6, the console finally comes home to the sanctuary, connections are made to control the swell shades, and pipes await their final installation.

Tomorrow (Sunday) evening, the semi-trailer returns with its final load! Be on hand Monday morning to once again help unload our marvelous instrument! This load won’t be nearly as big as last week’s; casework for the facade, pipes for the facade, trays holding ranks of pipes not included in the last shipment, the console’s pedalboard—all come with this truckload. Lunch will once again be served to all you hungry volunteers!

Choral Evensong for the Feast of All Saints

It’s become a St. Paul’s tradition, a tradition that you’ll surely want to become part of. The tradition? St. Paul’s wonderful Evensong service for the feast of All Saints. It’s here that we remember our beloved dead and pray for them in a special way. It’s here that candles are lit, names read out, and prayers said. It’s here that music wraps prayer and sentiment in beauty before sending it off to heaven. And this year, “here” is in the intimate and beautiful surroundings of the Chapel at Forest Home Cemetery (enter at 26th and Forest Home Avenue and follow the signs to the Chapel). If you’ve never seen it, you’re in for a delightful surprise; the chapel is an architectural gem set in the heart of the cemetery. Join us here! Join your prayers with ours! Usher in the month of November, the month during which we remember, in a special way, all our departed dear ones. Sunday, October 30th at 4:30pm. Fr. Steve Teague presides and the St. Paul Choir provides music from the ages. Become a part of the tradition!

Blessing of the Animals, October 8, 2011, 9:30 a.m.

Blessing of the Animals will be on Saturday, October 8, at 9:30 in the children’s park at the corner of Marshall and Ogden. Bring your pets to be blessed, and stay for juice, coffee, and a bite to eat in the Parlor afterwards. Children without a pet may bring a favorite stuffed animal for a Blessing. The Feast Day of St. Francis is October 4, so we are moving the Blessing of the Animals to the Saturday after the Feast Day.

Exhibition: Through the month of October 2011 in St Paul’s Parlor and Great Hall

Dr. and Mrs. David Zersen, regular participants at St. Paul’s, present works of art by Dr. P. Solomon Raj, theologian and artist of Vijayawada, India, entitled “Seeing with Indian Eyes.” Raj works in woodcuts and batiks, demonstrating stories of the Old and New Testament. At 90 years, he is one of the best-known Christian artists in Asia. Plan to join us for this exciting opportunity.
