Making 200 lunches together

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAChurch volunteers launched a new bag lunch program Friday evening to complement the hot lunches we serve every few months at The Gathering meal program in downtown Milwaukee.

Under the leadership of Kathee Phillipson and Jennifer Williams, adults and children from St. Paul’s rallied to prepare 200 bag lunches for Gathering guests to take with them after finishing their hot lunches. As there is no large-scale meal program in our area on Saturday night, these bag lunches help fill the gap for the guests of The Gathering.

After helping to distribute the bags on Saturday, Kathee reported, “The guests receiving the bag lunches really appreciated the trail mix, boiled eggs, note cards, and having an option for their last item (apple, banana, or applesauce.)  One man grinned ear to ear when he found out that we had cinnamon applesauce.  The orange juice was a big hit as well.  People were very happy with the lunch that we prepared.”

Here are photos of the St. Paul’s spirit in action. See you all on Friday, July 28.
